Day 7

On Thrusday (March 12th, 2009) our Crown Council Humanitarian Team finished up their service work in the Dominican Republic. Here are some pictures from the day.

The Crown Council group left the hotel and heading west from San Pedro to Contador at about 7:30am. This is the home of Suny, who is one of the newly trained hygiene therapy workers (pictured here).

Most of the homes in the village looked about like these. This community is one of the poorest our group has ever encountered.

Arriving at the school

Most of the men and boys in the village work the sugar cane fields. Here is a sugar cane worker in training.

After the sugar cane is harvested and processed it is loaded into these large trailers.

Suny (pictured left) is from the village the group worked in on Thursday. She will remain in the village as a hygiene theripist. She is pictured here with her mentor Mary Gray.

They left the village at about 5:00pm and headed for the resort where they will spend the next two day and nights playing on the beach and relaxing. Great work guys.
