We all arrived in Santo Domingo today. We were a little worried about some of the teams that had connecting flights at JFK airport in NYC, but all went as scheduled and we are all here! We were greeted by our Esperanza team and of course Roy and Glenda Hammond.
We had to park a few blocks away from hotel Europa due to construction, so most of us arrived at the hotel pretty exhausted.

After taking naps and getting freshened up, we went to dinner as a group and just as we got there, the power went out. It was supposed to be out for 5 or 10 minutes, but ended up lasting much longer than that. We waited outside for about a half hour and then it started raining, so we waited inside. The wonderful team set up candles and so we had a candle lit dinner inside. The power outage lasted all through dinner, but we had a great time getting to know each other and hearing what we are truly there for. As Roy told us, ¨it´s not about the teeth, it´s about the people.¨

Abbey is our youngest humanitarian. This was how happy she was after I taught her some sweet dance moves! |

Tomorrow is our first clinic. We go to bed exhausted and will wake up ready to make a difference tomorrow. Until then! |
